Three Letters Heist
We worked with McDonald’s China to execute 'Three Letter Heist', a high stakes creative strategy designed to break the category leader’s monopoly on the word 'Chicken' by introducing CFC (Cage Free Chicken). In a market ruled by a king for 30 years where ‘KFC’ was the default mental shortcut, we didn't just compete; we hijacked their language and launched a cultural acronym that rewrote the rules of the category. By transforming a product benefit into a national movement, the campaign successfully dethroned the default and delivered McDonald’s highest ever chicken market share in China.
Creative Strategy, Award-Winning

To break KFC’s monopoly on the word ‘Chicken’ in China, we executed a bold brand hijack called CFC. By introducing a provocative three letter acronym that mirrored our competitor, we disrupted the consumer’s mental shortcut at the point of purchase. The strategy featured 'Main Gate Sniping' placing 1500 billboards directly opposite KFC stores, turning a scale disadvantage into a cultural confrontation. The campaign exploded into a national meme with 1.5 billion impressions, involving 400+ brands and driving McDonald’s to its highest ever chicken market share of 12.1%. It was not just a campaign; it was a gutsy strategic maneuver that redefined quality standards through transparency and wit.
